Personal Fitness and Self-Defense

Class Overview

This course will focus on health-related physical fitness and personal safety.  Students will have the opportunity to engage in individual and team activities to improve or maintain their level of cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, muscle endurance and flexibility.  During warm weather class will be held outside and student input is an important part of selecting activities.  During cold weather activities will focus on yoga for fitness and relaxation, weight training, self-defense, and aerobics.  Students will be evaluated on their effort of participation, setting of and working towards short term and long-term goals, fitness knowledge, fitness testing, and development and implementation of a personal fitness program.
